Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
A couple was injured on Tuesday morning after being hit by a trailer while crossing National Highway 14 on a bicycle near Nutanpalli crossing in Suri, located in the western part of Birbhum district. The injured were taken to Suri Super Speciality Hospital for treatment. The incident occurred around the Nutanpalli area on a busy stretch of the highway.
Following the accident, local residents gathered at the site and vandalised the trailer involved. They blocked the highway to protest the incident, causing major disruption in vehicular movement. The protest led to congestion in the area, prompting authorities to respond immediately to restore order and traffic.
Police reached the spot and attempted to remove the blockade. During the operation, officials resorted to mild lathi-charge to disperse the crowd and took several individuals into custody. As of now, the situation is reported to be under control, and normal traffic has resumed on the highway.
